Bombay, India - BMD Info 1920's- 50's
« on: Monday 18 January 10 16:31 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone tell me how I can find out about BMD info, etc. for British families in Bombay in the 1920s - 50s.

In particular, I am trying to trace the family of EVA RUSSELL b. 1901 London who married ROBERT WILLIAM R RANKIN b. 1884 Nebraska (Irish / Scottish parents) in 1920s Eton, Bucks. They lived in Bombay where Robert was an engineer. Eva's mother ESTHER ALICE RAMSAY b. 1882 ish joined them circa 1936. I want to find out whether they died in India, and whether they have any descendents.

Thanks

Newscot -  as far as I'm aware there is likely to be only church records for the period. These are kept at the British Library in London in their India Office collections. Some have been indexed and there is a search function for these:

The LDS have filmed copies of some records which can be ordered and viewed at their family history centres.

There are links to other India records in the resources section of this board:

Many Thanks

I'll try those as a starting point.
