Thomas and Kitto Family.

Hello,

I'm looking for any information or relatives descended from John Thomas and Mary Ann Kitto.

John was born to Joseph and Elizabeth nee Cooke. in 1831 in Lower Bullingham. He married Mary Ann Kitto (daughter of William and Ann nee Slew)  on 27 August 1854 in Waterloo, Surrey. John died in 1869 and was a Master Joiner at the time of his death, Mary Ann died sometime after 1901.

They had 7 children in all. Elizabeth Ann 1856, Lambeth Middlesex. John 1858 L. Bullingham. Joseph C 1860 L. Bullingham. William K 1862 L. Bullingham. Richard George 1864 L. Bullingham - 1928 Rhayader, Wales. Francis J 1866 L. Bullingham and Michael Edward 1868 L. Bullingham.

Mary Ann also married Benjamin Langford from Kington in June 1870 in Hereford and they had Harry in 1871 and possibly a girl, Emma in 1873. She then married William Griffiths, and apparently had 2 more children - William and Mary.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

What sort of information do you want?  For example, do you want help following the children forward through the censuses?

I had a quick look for John, and found him with his wife Alice on the 1881 census (no children as yet) RG11; Piece: 2593; Folio: 20; Page: 32

John Alfred Thomas mar Alice Jones Hereford 6a 655 in Mar qtr 1881.  By the time of the 1891 census they had a whole bunch of children:
Ruport (sic) W aged 9
Selina M aged 8
Clara May aged 7
Eliza aged 5
Alfred Jno aged 4
Maria aged 3
Turtwood (??!!??) aged 11mnths (a girl!)
RG12; Piece: 2063; Folio 71; Page 35

I'm guessing the Turtwood is actually Gertrude (from the 1901 census).  Additional children (to those you had in 1891):

Alice bn c. 1892
Francis bn c. 1894
Agnes bn c. 1895
Charles bn c. 1900

RG13; Piece: 2480; Folio: 146; Page: 16

If you don't have this info, I don't mind doing a proper transcription for you

Rupert Thomas became a prison warden in Hereford prison (Commercial Road) according to the 1911 census, and I think he married Harriet M Lies in 1916.  Possible death for him in 1964 in Shrewsbury

Thanks for the replies! I did find that info for John, and knew he had a wife called Alice but wasn't sure whether it was him as i didnt think he had a middle name and the Childrens names seemed so different to what i thought they would be. But i suppose it was the only John Thomas there was at that time who was living and born in the right place.

It would be great if you could do a paper transcription! Could i ask where you found the information for Alfred was it? And his occupation, marriage and death?
