Thomas Dickson/Wilhelmina Wilson
« on: Wednesday 20 January 10 12:58 GMT (UK) »
Looking to see if the following by any chance emigrated to the USA
Thomas Dickson born about 1882 in Scotland (parents George Dickson and Ellen Matthews) married Wilhelmina Wilson in Edinburgh Scotland in 1924 (Wilhelmina's mother was Mary Wilson, subsequently Curran, maiden surname McKay). In 1924 Thomas was 42 and Wilhelmina 29. No trace of their deaths in Scotland. Any info would be appreciated.
Bloodworth (Helpston, Northants), McKay (Swinton, Berwickshire, Edinburgh. Lincs, Notts) Curran (Coldstream, Inverness, Edinburgh), Young (Edinburgh), Sinclair (Edinburgh)

Looks like they went to Canada -

SS Melita from Glasgow to Quebec, arriving 3 Sep. 1927
Dickson, Wilhelmina, wife, age 34, born Edinburgh, in Canada before in Calgary from 1923-1926, going to join husband Mr. Thos. Dickson, (address too hard to read), Calgary, Alta., nearest relative in country from whence she came - mother Mrs. Mary (surname written in & hard to read - might be Curran), 10 Duke Street, Coldstream

SS Metagama from Montreal to Glasgow, Oct. 1926
Dickson, Wilhemina, housewife, age 23, last resided in Canada, proposed address in UK - 16 Lochrine Place, Edinburgh

Thankyou very much for this info. I'm sorry I don't quite follow!  Did Wilhelmina go out on SS Melita to join husband, and then return on the SS Metagama without her husband? or am I reading it wrong?

The return visit to the UK was in 1926, so that was before the 1927 trip back to Canada.  Presumably, she went to Scotland for a visit without Thomas and then came back to Canada.

I also found these:

SS Montclare sailing 15 Feb. 1924, then C.P.R. railway to Calgary -

Minnie Dickson, age 30, married to Thomas Dickson, born Coldstream, Scottish, British citizen, Protestant, going to Canada "to make my home", never lived in Canada before, in possession of $600, passage paid by husband, going to 2833 26th A St., Calgary, Alberta, nearest relative - mother Mrs. Curran, Duke Street, Coldstream

Thomas Dickson, age 42, married, accompanied by wife Mrs. T. Dickson, intended occupation - farming, born Coldstream, Scottish, British citizen, Protestant, going to Canada for farming, going to 2833 -26A Street West., Calgary, Alberta, previously entered Canada at St. John in March 1911, previously departed Canada on holiday from Quebec in Nov. 1923, in possession of $600, passage paid by self, nearest relative - mother Mrs. Dickson, 16 Leet Street, Coldstream

I'll move this over to the Canada board and maybe they can help with any other Canada information.

Thomas Dickson born about 1885 Scotland entered Canada (St John) March 1911. Do not know if he married before 1911 or married when he got to Canada 1911 or after.
Would like to know if he is on the 1911 census or 1916 census for Canada. May have been residing at 2833 26th A St, Calgery, Alberta.
Would also like any information on Thomas Dickson and his 2nd wife Wilhelmina (Minnie) Wilson from 1924 onwards living at the above address.
Would like to know if there were any children from either marriage. Or if a death can be found.
