George Paterson,Campsie
« on: Wednesday 20 January 10 21:01 GMT (UK) »
I have hit a brick wall, and was hoping someone out there could help me.

What I know so far is that my x3 grandfather George Paterson was convicted for robbery in 1852 and was Transported to Australia.  Going by his court record,he states that he was born 1830 and that he was a resident from Campsie. i am having problems locating him in the 1841 cencus.   In 1851 he was in Stirling Prison.

This little problem is stopping me getting back any further with my research.

Hi
Have you tried a search on FreeCEN Scotland ?      http://freecen.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl

Assuming Campsie was in Stirlingshire there is a 10 year old in a family in St Ninians born in Stirlingshire, mother Agnes and 4 males older than George with the same surname- not definite that they are brothers. 1841 very basic.

Good luck
