Rev William Geary
« on: Friday 22 January 10 15:51 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I wonder if anyone could help me please.

I am trying to find a death for William Geary (Gearey, Gary) who was born about 1794 in Scotland and died, I presume in Ontario.

The dates I am looking at are between November 1878 where he was mentioned in a newspaper article after an accident at Bobcaygeon (where he had been helping to commemorate the Baptist church), although he was recovering well, and April 1881 where his wife was down as widow in the census.

His wife Elizabeth died Nov 1881 in Wooler Village Murray Twp Northhumberland Co. Ontario.

I am very suprised I cannot see him in the Ontario deaths

Thank you

Evie

Hi Jeff

Thank you so much for taking the time to have a look for me, unfortunately I don't think this is my William.

Two reasons are that he didn't have a son James and his wife was described as a widow in the 1881 census.

I do appreciate your help in trying to find his death.

Hi Evie,

Have you checked the local Bobcaygeon Churches? If William was a minister at one he would most likely be mentioned in the church records.

The following link will lead you to all the area churches.

Good hunting.

Hi J.A.M

Thank you for the link, I will have a good look round and see what I can find.

I wonder if he died while he was travelling around, maybe that is why he is not showing up in the Ontario deaths. However, one would think there would be some mention of him somewhere.

Thanks again and I will post if I get a result.
