William HANDLEBY/HUNDLEBY - buried Broxbourne
« on: Sunday 24 January 10 12:52 GMT (UK) »
I have a obtained a copy of William Handleby's will from TNA and in the will he desires: "to be buried in Broxbourne churchyard near to the place where Wm Boss's body is deposited and that I may have an Arch and Stone over my Burial place like to Mrs Turk's who lies buried in the said churchyard".  I would be most grateful if anybody living near to the churchyard was able to check this out for me.  Is the grave still there, and is there a more detailed inscription on the gravestone?  I would also love to know if there are any other Handleby or Hundleby graves in this churchyard.  I know this is a tall order but I have now hit a brick wall with my family history. :(

Just had a further thought.  Hertfordshire Family History Society have produced memorial inscription booklets on many churchyards in Herts.  Not yet complete but have just looked up their web page and Broxbourne church is amongst the published MIs.  It will give details of all readable memorials in the churchyard.  Might be easier than trail the churchyard in the cold and snow !!

Thanks for that Benzon - it's a great idea and I will contact the FHS.
Yes, thanks Wilcoxon, 1770 was his death date.  He was baptised 30 Nov 1703 at Broxbourne.
