HEllo!, I`m looking for Rachel Charles in the 1851 census, she was born in Llywel about 1810, she had as family history goes a few children  before she eventually married Morgan Thomas the reputed father.
I don`t know when they married but they are on the 1861/71/81 censuses as Rachel Thomas  and Morgan Thomas.
Rachel had a daughter in  1831, her name was Hannah,
trying to find out if she was Hannah CHARLES or Thomas,
Many thanks for any help with this problem,,, Marg,,

See 1861 entry - Morgan Thomas was only born in 1820/21 so impossible that he was the father of Hannah b 1831

There are no children living with them in 1861.  If they only married in 1856 and some children were born before then, I would have expected to see some still at home in 1861

I`m looking for Rachel Charles in the 1851 census, she was born in Llywel about 1810

Llywel is in Brecon - see 1861 census - Rachel was not born there, she was b Mothvey Carmarthenshire which is probably why she can't be found in Brecon or born in Brecon in 1851

:)Hello Carolew, many thanks for looking and, yes I can see now on the 1861 census that I have  Rachel was born in Mothvey.. I will post a quiry on Carmarthen now and try my luck there,,
Rachel had many children before she married Morgan Thomas, whether he was the father of all of them we will never know, but he was the REPUTED father of some of them, the children that she has on the 1871/81 censuses are infact her g/children one    WILLIAM PRICE being my husbands great/grandfather, so I know that we have the right family,, the children mentioned are all the children of her daughter Hannah, she was born1831 as mentioned before,
O well! press on as they say, many thanks again  Marg,,

Hi

You need a copy of the marriage cert to determine her fathers name and also her declared marital status at that time (widow/spinster)

I did find this 1841 entry in Cardiganshire but cannot be sure it's your Hannah Charles  as no relationships are shown on the 1841

Thomas Richards 7  but shown as a farmer
Catharine Richards 75
Hanna Richards 45 independant born in county
Thomas Charles 14 not born in county
Hanna Charles 11         ditto

:)  Hello Carole,,I posted a quiry on the Carmarthen thingy?? and HEYWOOD picked it up and she has kindly found the family living at  DAGFA MYDDFAI, on the 1841 and on the1851 at POSTY DEVYNOCK,.
Lewis CHarles father Rachel daug and Thomas Charles son, all ages tie in, so at this moment in time I think i will save myself the cost of a cert, but Lewis Charles is not with Rachel and Thomas on the 1851 in POSTY DEVyNOCK, he must have beenin that area somewhere though,   I have his d/cert, he died in PANTYCADNO TRIANGLAES Breconshire,March1870 age 94yrs,,I also have the d/cert for RACHEL Thomas,  she d in 1903 aged 92yrs    present at death THOMAS PRICE the one that was living with her on the 1881 census,,
Still don`t know the name of LEWIS CHARLES wife, she wasn`t on the 1841 census so she must have died before that date,  will keep trying to find her,, thanks again for all your help,   I am thrilled that with everones help that I have gone this far,,Marg,,
