I have found something for a John G. Payne and am posting as a possible to be investigated further because of the birthdate.

Social Security Death Index  U.S.A.

Name:  John G. Payne
SSN:  557-50-7446
Last Residence:  33713 St. Petersburg, Pinellas, Florida U.S.A.
Born:  October 5, 1920
Died:  January 23, 2004
State/year SNN issued:  California (1954)

This could be your grandfather or possibly the the fellow who went originally to NB, or they could be one in the same.  Also possibly a totally different John G. Payne but I thought it worth mentioning because of the birthdate.  Unfortunately it does not state a place of birth.

It's extremely late here and I must get to bed or I would pursue this further.

Good luck !!  I will check back and hopefully find this all solved by the extremely talented and thorough rootschatters.

I have just seen your post on the other board and the reply you got showing a marriage of John Grant Payne in Pinella, Florida.  I believe that even though he is age 73 that this is the same man as in my post above, which would mean the same birthdate of Oct. 5, 1920.

Hi Dollylee

Well done. It has to be him, right birthdate and full name on marriage.

Andy
