I have come to a grinding halt.Is it possible for a look up of the marrage between Henry Pace and Priscilla Waldren 1880 ( marriage cert 25/4/402). I am trying to trace back Henry Pace and thought fathers name may be on the register. Can't find any trace of him before the 1881 census living in Great Bridge Street West Brom

Who does he name as his father on the Marriage cert?

I'm not sure what the ref is that you have.
The GRO ref if you want to send for it from there is

Ap/May/JUn 1880
West Brom ref 6b 895
Henry Pace
one of brides on same page Priscilla Waldren
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex

I see from the 1881 census that it looks like a second marriage for him, as there are children up to age 9 and he has been married to Priscilla for a year

1881 RG11 2846 66 10
Henry 40 Dry sand moulder
Priscilla 37
Emanuel 9
Ruth 7
Mary Ann 3  all bn West Brom
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex
Kemp - Essex
Farrington - Essex
Boniface - West Sussex

Subject to what I say below about the parish records, marriage certificates can't be looked up; they need to be purchased.  The reference you have is from West Midlands BMD and you can use it to order the certificate from the local office on the prrintable application form available from that site: http://www.bmsgh.org/wmbmd. Or you can order it from the GRO using the reference which lizdb has provided above.

The West Midlands BMD website does tell you that the marriage took place at Holy Trinity, West Bromwich - see http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/STS/WestBromwich/HolyTrinity/index.html.  If you can get to Staffordshire Record Office or can find someone else to look up those parish registers for the relevant record then you will be able to obtain the same information as would be found on a marriage certificate.

Thanks everyone for your replys very useful. As you probly guessed I am pretty new to this so any advice is much appreciated. Thanks especially to Donna. I would go myself but I live in France and the 74 don't come through here. All my research is done via the internet so I am limited to what I can achieve.

Thanks to all. ;D
