Hi Rebelrouser

There are lots of Ethel Masons but none with initial R.  You will need to give us a bit more info.
What area are we looking? Where was she born?  Names of parents? Names of siblings? Father's occupation?

Milly,

Thanks for your reply.

The only information that I hav is that she married William bertram DEASON in the June ¼ 1921 and the marriage was registered at West Ham Volume 4a Page 673.

Wal

We could come up with possible census entries for her but without knowing her parent's names and occupation it would only be guesswork.

If you get her marriage certificate it should give you her father's name and occupation which will  at least be something to cross reference with and would narrow down any possibilities.

just post back when you have some more... although more people may see it if you were to start a new topic  - perhaps on the relevant county board or on the beginners board with the name and location in the title...

Milly,

I have been given a little more information on my Ethel.

The "R" stands for Rose. So her name was in fact Ethel Rose.

I have located two Ethel Rose MASONs, one born in the Sep ¼ 1894 & registered at Kensington 1a 132 and the other born in the Jun ¼ 1899 registered at West Ham. It is this one that I feel may be the one I am seeking.

I have also been told that Ethel had a sister called Ada and a brother who only referred to as Doc. This Doc does not help much as it appears to be a nickname.

Here's a possibility...which fits what you need - but I think you definitely need the marriage certificate to find out her father's name and occupation.  Hopefully it will be Walter and will confirm this for you.

MASON, Walter    Head   age 24   occupation :  Raily Boiler Maker GER
MASON, Emily R Wife   age 20
MASON, Ethel R   Daughter      age  21 Months
MASON, Ada   Daughter          age 8 Months

RG 13/1594/88/5

37, Queen Street, West Ham

The original gives occupation as Raily boiler maker -others on page have raily or railiy or rly in front of various occupations. I wonder if the enumerator meant railway?
