Hi there

This is a bit of a stab in the dark, but I am trying to trace Hannah Butler nee unknown :(  There is a possibility that her maiden name is HAYTER.

I have Hannah Butler born between 1811-1816...in Sulgrave, Northamptonshire on census records 1841-1881, she died in 1883. (I have 2 censuses that put her DOB in 1811, and her death reg would also confirm this.)

Her first child, Elizabeth Butler, was born in Grendon Underwood, Bucks late 1832, so she would possibly have gotten married in 1831.  She married a William BUTLER, of Grendon Underwood, Bucks.

I don't appear to have a marriage on record in Grendon Underwood, so am assuming that the marriage took place in her parish?  (Or hoping!  :-\ )

Elizabeth Butler went on to name one of her sons Frederick Hayter...and following the tradition of using a mother's maiden name as a sons middle name, I'm hoping that this is the case in this instance.

TIA

Daisy Loo

Wow, Sandy, that was quick.   ;D Thanks.   ;D  hmm...means she was pregnant when getting married so!!!

That name has become a bit of a shock though...so guess hayter was the stab in the dark, and I should be looking for baptism of Hannah Goffe.

Thanks again :)

and while I was thanking you, you found it.  She's mine isn't she?  I mean, it's pretty certain right?

Hi Daisy Loo.

No other candidates that look possible, so safe to say
Yes I would think.

That's fantastic...more names I have never heard of, but now makes me more curious as to where Hayter came from!  maybe named after a neighbour! :P

Thank you very very much.  ;D :-*

Perhaps the Hayter name comes from the father's family, perhaps his mother's mother was a Hayter

Thanks for that suggestion...the father's family is my own name/directline, and I have already researched that...was working on the maternal lines now.  Oh well, it may come up yet :)

Scratch that...confusing myself....am now having a look at the father's family...
