Very nice, I just surfed in.  The people in the picture are my great-great-grandparents Peter McIntosh and Agnes Cramb.  The woman with her hand on Agnes Cramb's shoulder is self-styled 'Lady Mary', Mary Elizabeth McDougall McIntosh who resided in Dunblane.  [As far as I know she 'Lady Mary' never married, I'd need to research that one myself.  My grandmother and aunt Ina often went to stay with her].  My 84 year old father saw this picture some time back and was able to identify everyone in the picture, he'd met some of them!  So I have to dispute who some of the people are in the picture.  Yes Christina-Ann married twice, second marriage to John Morrison.  My grandmother is the daughter of Alexander Ross McKay and Christina Ann McIntosh.  Alexander McKay was still alive during world war II, and often visited my grandmother (his daughter Agnes Cramb McKay (married name Wilson)) at her home in Glasgow.  There were two legal children to Alexander McKay and Christina Ann McIntosh - Agnes Cramb McKay and her brother Peter McKay they were pretty much abandoned by their mother Christina-Ann McIntosh and spent a large part of their sad childhoods in Quarriers Homes.  My grandmother forgave her mother, but thought little of her for what she had done.  I met Peter when I was a child, he lived in Bannockburn at that point.  He'd been captured by the Germans early in WWII and spent most of the war in a POW camp.  Their father [Alexander] was posted abroad in the Boer War at the time all of this was going on with his children.  Alexander was decorated twice, DCM and Bar, Boer War and WWI, Cameronians, Scottish Rifles.  The McIntosh's before living in Doune and Dunblane, came from Dull Perthshire, earliest ancestor I have for them is in Little Dunkeld about 1700.  My research was partly based on oral testimony, records verified what I'd been told.

Hi David - Very interested to read your post  :) have spent lord knows, how many hours trying to sort out who is who in the photo, and of course, the only one I am sure of is my grandmother Charlotte seated between Peter and Agnes.
For your info... Mary Elizabeth McDougall McIntosh born 1871 Dunblane, did marry, in 1891 31 Jul at Äshfield"Dunblane to Thomas Stevenson, GRO348/00 0013 Witnesse's Jessica A Kershaw and Henry McCulloch..occupation for Thomas given as fireman.
She died in 1946 at Braeport, Dunblane.  GRO348/00 0011, Widow of Thomas Stevenson (gardener) cuase heart failure.  Witness John Cramb McIntosh (brother).
Hope this clears up one mystery for you  ;)
I do have a photo (I think) of Mary, I am saying Ï think" as my mother had just written on the back Aunt Mary Stevenson, Dunblane.
I suppose somewhere along the line we are related  :D am going to have another look at your post and will get back to you re any other information.
Regards Patvp

This is certainly news on 'Lady Mary', I hadn't looked too deeply into her life, only her birth and recorded names at birth.  Her husband was obviously deceased at the time my grandmother Agnes Cramb McKay would go and stay with her for short periods.  My aunt 'Ina' Christina Craig (nee Wilson) was terrified of her as a child, and used to tell a story of how she was afraid to go to sleep and 'Lady Mary' told her "it's a long time 'till morning", which didn't help any!  :)  My Dad tells a story of how she used to send him for buns from the bakers, but told him to ask for yesterday's buns, which she then put on the plate.  I'm too young to have met her of course, but these are some of the little stories that used to make my Dad and auntie chuckle whenever they talked about her.  If you have a photograph of her I'd love to see it.  I'll send a copy on to my Dad and he could verify that's her.  :)

Hi David - If you make a couple of more posts on this site..I will be able to send you my e.mail adds... am trying to find the photo of Aunt Mary, looks as tho'I may have deleted it from my file..stupid me... but have the original, so will have to re-scan.  I know what you mean about the stories, I was re-calling my visits to my g/grandmother Jean Stewart McKay she lived in the Ramoyle, I was not so much terrified of her but stood in awe..would have been about 8 yrs old at the time..she was supposedly bed ridden but it did not stop her from hopping out of bed on Sunday morning (after the family had gone to kirk) and baking her own bread  ;D my great aunt Chris would take me to see her whenever I was shunted off to Alva...so many happy memories..they seem to get clearer as we get older...my god I will be 76 next year..the mind boggles  :D
Will wait to hear from you..all the best Pat

Forgot to add.... Did you realize that Agnes McIntosh nee Cramb had an illegitimate son in 1861 at Dunblane his name was Henry Hunter and in 1871 he was living with his grandparents John Cramb and Isabella Young-Cramb..came across it quite by accident and then had the devils own job finding them on the census ..the transcription was very bad and the name had been translated as Kraml etc etc .
Once again will wait to hear from you...Pat
