PhotoZoom Pro

I am very pleased with PhotoZoom Pro v3 (www.benvista.com/main/content/content.php?page=ourproducts&section=photozoompro_1). This is a program for simply increasing the size of images.

Initially, I thought it would be a simple program for hobbyists who didn't have image processing software so would do pretty much the same as changing the image size in, for example, photoshop. After all, what could any program do with 'new' pixels other than average them?

Wrong! It actually uses some very clever matrix maths to fill in the blanks. For image restores, my first step very often now is to increase the size to exactly double my required end size ready for photoshop and to finally reduce it. It works standalone or as a plug-in. Some of my results can be seen on this forum.

Very cool program/maths.

Hi Gadget,

First image shows Photoshop resize to 1000px (which is cleverer than most).
Second images shows PhotoZoom resize to 1000px

No other processing has been applied for comparison.

This was a very fast test but MANY zoom adjustments can be made so I could do better with a little time.

Hi Kevin

I tried it quickly with a free download. The Bell one seems to be best but it's still not bringing out the detail on his sleeve.

It's such a sad story  :-\

If you manage to get some detail up - we'd all be very grateful  :)

Top: optimized resize using photoshop (but no other tools)
Bottom: resize using PhotoZoom.

This is not a particularly impressive result compared to some.

Unfortunately, it works by working through the image with a progressive matrix pre-mulitply, in almost the same was as a filter, except that it works on a larger matrix so that it can take better account of (and be more sympathetic to) the image on a wider area.

It is still not possible to fill in missing writing or detail though. I am afraid that the badge can only be identified with greater resolution.

Thanks for trying.

It's a good example of what the software can do though, isn't it  :)
