Francis (Frank) Herbert Bentley
« on: Monday 08 February 10 17:28 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace my grandfather's family who migrated to Montreal, Canada in 1904.
the 1911 census tells me that his mother, brothers and sister lived at 11,Concorde St but frank was not registered with them, he enlisted in the C.E.F in July 1915, married in 1918 and i believe returned to Canada in 1919. His date of birth 14/04/1896

Welcome to Rootschat!

Have you got them in 1901 and earlier censuses?

If you want me (or someone) to look, can you give the parents names, and siblings, and say what part of the country we are looking at?

the family did not come from Cumberland, they lived in Godfrey St Chelsea Borough London in 1901 census but Francis was not on this census. The rest of the family went to Canada where he emerged to sign on for the first world war in1915. The family names are Elizabeth(mother),Alfred,Thomas,Albert Archibald and Elsie

Hello 'ivan b'

A polite suggestion.  If you were to post on the Canadian Board here, you're more likely to get some follow up from the Canadian side.

Have you got the ref for the1901 census, I cant spot them!

If Francis, who was only about 5 in 1901 and 15 in 1911 was not with the family in either census, what is youe evidence he was another child in this family?
Have you got a birth cert for him?
