parish of Binsey
« on: Wednesday 10 February 10 21:12 GMT (UK) »
can anyone help please with this family from Binsey

Samuel Beechey and his wife Mary

I have found the baptisms for 6 of their children in Binsey but I think there are 2 earlier ones that I cannot find

also I cannot find any marriages or deaths for any of them.

the children found are
Elizabeth 1812
John 1817
Thomas 1817
Eliza 1819
John 1821
Charlotte 1823

there only seems to be one Beechey family in Binsey so if anyone come across any of them in the parish records I would be very gratefull for any info found.

thanks

thank you so much for the info it helps sorting some of them out.

I have Samuel and Sarah in Binsey in 1841 and I was hoping that this Samuel was the son of Samuel and Mary but as you have found no baptisim for him then maybe as he would be the eldest he was baptised somewere else before they moved to Binsey
there is also a William born c1812 Binsey according to the census's but again maybe he was baptised somewere else.

again thank you for what you have found.

Hi,

I may be looking for the same family. My greatx3 grandfather was Thomas Beechey. According to the census he was born in Oxfordshire, possibly Binsey. It's difficult to read the original image.

I know that his father was a Samuel Beechey, who was a farmer.

But my Thomas Beechey was born about 1823. Assuming he knew when he was born. As in later cenus records he said he was born in Banbury. And also one where it said town unknown.

Hi Maria

yes it looks like the same person.
I am not connected to this family just doing the research for a friend of a friend.

Thomas Beechey is a Mystery man, I have the same info as you.

1851 and 1861 he says born Binsey, then in 1871 Banbury, then after that just Oxford

do you have his 1st marriage to Sarah Birchall on 13-11-1848
on this he says his father is William a farmer but I think this is a mistake as on one of his childrens baptisms he calls himself Thomas William

2 children born to his 1st wife
Sarah 1847-married Carl Ruhmann
Elizabeth born 1850-married Thomas Stammers [this is line I am following]
then he lived with his 2nd wife Elizabeth Sawyer for quite a while before marring her on 24-4-1859
children to 2nd wife
twins
William born 1855-died 1855
Thomas born 1855 married Elizabeth Pugh [also following this line]
William born 1857-married Louisa Campbell
Mary Ann born 1859-married Thomas Pugh
Frederick Henry born 1861-married Elizabeth Brown
Eliza born 1864-died 1874
John Edward born 1867-died 1868
Benjamin born 1869-married Ellen Mansell

hope this is of some help

Wonder if this could be your Samuel and Mary?

From OFHS Oxfordshire Marriage Index

10 Mar 1811 Samuel Beechey to Mary Hopkins at Wytham BRK

This would fit with birth of Elizabeth and Wytham is the next parish to Binsey
