Robert John Eaton
« on: Thursday 11 February 10 22:52 GMT (UK) »
I am following on from an enquiry posted by Gortinanima in December last year looking for the antecedents of Robert John Eaton and Mary Jane McAllister.  Both were born around 1845 in Derry and were married, according to the Irish Family History Foundation, on 11 January 1866 at Killaig.  Robert John Eaton’s father is stated as Thomas Eatton, shoemaker while Mary Jane McAllister’s father is  Robert McAllister, weaver. However, it is also stated that Robert John Eaton’s parent’s were Christopher Eaton and Hannah Huston.

My objective is to trace back two generations from Robert John Eaton and Mary Jane McAllister if possible but the confusion over Robert John Eaton’s parents is not helping. It is perfectly possible however that I am the only one confused here!!

Help with this would be much appreciated.

Many thanks, aghadowey.  I am Linda,  Beardmore's wife - and a Hemphill,  daughter of Andrew Todd Hemphill.  I appear to have the interesting option of two sets of antecedents :  Thomas Eaton,  shoemaker ( horse shoes? and therefore blacksmith??) or Christopher Eaton.  My father always talked about Macosquin when speaking of his boyhood in Ireland.  I also remember a Bobby White and a Sammy White  and aunts Martha and Mary.  Does this narrow it down at all?  I am SO grateful to you for taking the time to help resolve this.  Or perhaps I am just misreading the threads you cite.   Linda

Hello Beardmore,

I am just replying to this topic to see if you are still following this line of inquiry.

Regards

Sarah
