SPRATT death in 1977 (buried or cremated?)
« on: Friday 12 February 10 00:51 GMT (UK) »
On 27th September 1977 in a nursing home in Woolton, L25 - Lily Gertrude SPRATT (nee PLIMMER) died aged 86 - her address given as Toxteth, L8

her grandson FAULKNER, the informant, lived in St Helens

How easily can I find out if she was cremated or buried and where?

Anyone had problems like this before and been able to solve them?

Many thanks,
Ian.

If she died in Woolton she would have been cremated at Springwood as it's almost on the doorstep -  unlikely to have been transported all the way to to St Helens

If there was a pre-existing family grave - then she could have been buried anywhere

If no previous grave and she was buried - then again it would be Springwood

You could try ringing them as you have her actual date of death but if it's no trace - then you would have to check all cemetaries at Liverpool RO

If there was a newspaper announcement of the death it probably gave the funeral  arrangments which would tell you what yoou want to know. As you know the date of death the nearest Local Studied Library might do a lookup for you.

Hi

found out today that the nursing home "Sunnybank" was demolished:

"Our previous building was on this site from 1959 to 1992 and was demolished."

Now Marie Curie Cancer Care Hospice

I know it - it's on your left as you cross the traffic lights in Woolton Village.  I have a recollection that it's still called Sunnybank although it's Marie Curie

My aunt lived in Woolton for many years so I passed it regularly

If she was from Toxteth, she might have been buried in an existing family grave.  You could try Toxteth Park Cemetery.  I found this telephone number:  0151 733 5591 for the cemetery.
