Ayers/Gills of Carbury, Kildare
« on: Tuesday 16 February 10 13:07 GMT (UK) »
I have a marriage of Luke Eyers/Ayers and Bridget Gill from Carbury in edenderry reg. district in 1868. (don't actually have the cert so no parents mentioned)They had a daughter bridget (1875) and sons thomas and james all born in Carbury.  Bridget went to Dublin to work when she was 16 and married Patrick Byrne.  I would love if anyone had any information on the Carbury side.  Where did Luke Ayers come from etc. The addresses of Drehid and Killlina have been mentioned on the children's baptismal certs.  Would really appreciate any information. Thanks

You will probably need the marriage certificate and/or check church records.
There's another daughter listed in IGI (www.familysearch.org): Mary Anne born 30 Aug.1869 Co.Kildare.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Finally got marriage cert!!! Luke's profession is what looks like "pensioned or pensioner from the army" and Bridget's is a servant. Lukes residence at time of marriage is 61 Bow Lane, Dublin and Bridgets looks like Ticknevin. Luke's father was William Eyers (deceased) and a shoemaker. Bridget's Father was Thomas Gill and a labourer. I still have no idea where Luke or William came from as there are no Eyers in Kildare on either available census even though all the children were born in the area.

Thanks

really appreciate that Rory.  I went up to offices today and got that cert.  Bingo. He's the right man. His address at time of death was Carman's Hall Wood Quay.  I suspected James, one of his sons, was the James at that address and now I know he is.  I've lots to go on now.  Thanks again for all your help
