i have found out that one of my relations emigrated to New York between 1851 and 1855 (an American contact found them on the census there). He was an Ag lab with 5 children living at Orby. The rest of the family all stayed within the same area. How would someone at that time have found out about emigration and how would they afford the passage? In the US census of 1860 he is described as a farmer with some land and personal wealth. How did he do it? Also was there a Methodist chapel at Orby at that time?
