At NSW State Records Online there's a search option within their topic for NSW Orphan schools, 1817-86
A number of series of records relating to the Orphan Schools which were run by the colonial government of NSW.

The search option includes wildcards, and also any of the following : Child's Surname;  Child's Firstname;  Mother's Surname;  Mother's Firstname;  Father's Surname;  Father's Firstname;  Age of Child;  Date of Petition or Entry to School;  Name of Petitioner;
