Edward&Emily Roberts CHIRK
« on: Sunday 21 February 10 16:20 GMT (UK) »
Hello
Can anyone help me trace Edward & Emily Roberts? I have so little information but I know Emily and her daughter Ethel are buried somewhere in Chirk. They died in 1914 within 6 months of each other, both of TB. Emily was born in the Ruabon district in 1879, as was Edward. I have no idea of Emily's maiden name.
Many thanks
Pippa(great grand-daughter of Edward)

Do you have them in 1911?

Wow - thanks for the speedy replies.
I have found the family on the 1911 census when the parents are 32 and they are living in Rhostyllen with their four children. I also found the death records for Ethel (5 when she died I think) and Emily in 1914. Before that I can't even find Edward as I know nothing about his family.
I can't seem to track down marriage certificate either- there seems to be a possibility in 1901 (Oswestry 6a 1576) and another in 1903 (Llangollen to an Emily Barker). The only other information I have is that Edward broke his leg in a mining accident ( no doubt Bersham) and had to give up Minnie to an Aunt Greenwood....who apparently lived in Chirk.
Sorry for the lack of information but all those in the know are no longer with us!

Pippa

Hi Pippa  :)

Welcome to Rootschat.

There is only one graveyard in Chirk and that is the one that surrounds the Church and then the extension to the east of that.

I was born and brought up in Chirk and, although I don't immediately recognise the family, some of my relatives might. Anything that you can remember would be useful. Where did they live - was it Chirk Green?

Also, how much do you know of the Aunt Greenwood?

Myddelton Terrace  :) - so he most likely worked at the office of  Chirk Green/Brynkinallt colliery which was just behind the row of red brick houses.

Added - Oswestry was the RD for Chirk in those days!
