trying to find a marriage.

hi,,this is from the 1911 irish census


Mc Hale Edward 73 Male Head of Family R Catholic Co Mayo Farmer
Mc Hale Bridget 59 Female Wife R Catholic

it states they had been married for 40 years,,,so married c 1871

they lived in LACK EAST ,disrict CASTLEBAR--subdistrict TURLOUGH...D.E.D BALLAVARY

i have looked at the civil indexes,,,cant find a record of thier marriage,,,,any help would be greatly appreciated.

Possibly Edward M'HALE marriage 1869 Castlebar registration district volume 4 page 142 (Bridget REILLY on same page).

IGI (www.familysearch.org) lists several children of Edward McHale and Bridget/Biddy Reilly.
1. James born 25 Dec.1869 Co.Mayo
2. Martin born 27 Nov.1870 Co.Mayo
3. Mary born 26 May 1873 Co.Mayo
4. Pat born 5 Feb.1876 Co.Mayo
5. Catherine born 16 Sept.1877 Co.Mayo
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

2. Thomas born 15 Apr.1874 Co.Mayo mother- Biddy O'Hora
3. Michael McHale born 15 Dec.1876 Co.Mayo died 22 FEB 1946 (submitted) mother- Bridget O'Hara

thanks,,,the other 2 children i know they had were Nora and Michael.  Michael was the eldest.

Hi gortonboy,

I think you have 2 different families there. I was puzzled about Richard and Maggie so have had another look.

1901 has that family in Cunnagher North, Turlough.

The other Edward and Bridget are in Lack West.

Apologies.

I'm just trying to sort it myself re 1911 and perhaps should have done first.
I was just puzzled re Richard and Maggie from 1911 and wondered where they were in 1901 and found a family-
Edward 60 yrs, Bridget 48 yrs with amongst other children, James(11)-Richard(6)-Maggie(4) which would fit with the 1911 family.
