Hi Derek

Don't know if these belong to you.

James Johnson married Elizabeth Hopkinson 9.5. 1823  by Banns at North Wingfield.

Elizabeth Johnson buried 2.5. 1846 aged 49 abode Pilsley
James Johnson buried 25.4. 1854 aged 67 abode Pilsley.

There are two James Johnson baptisms that could fit

James Johnson 28.2.1787 to William & Hannah abode Newmarket
James Johnson 10.8. 1788 to John & Elizabeth abode Newmarket

Hi Derek,
The 1851 Census in which James is a Widower ( fits with what Carol found for the death of Elizabeth in 1849) says he was born;
1793, Claylane, Derbyshire which is near North Wingfield as far as I know.

It may be worth looking up the Marriage to Elizabeth as well, as it may contain extra info.

A Tree on Ancestry has his Parents as JOHN Johnson born 1754 and Elizabeth CUTT 1747.
This doesnt seem right to me as she would be late 40's when she gave birth to James. It is not impossible but there must have beens lots of children born before if John and Eliz. married in 1778.

Trish

Children of John and Elizabeth JOHNSON, christened North Wingfield;

ANN, 23 May 1779
JOHN, 26 May 1781
WILLIAM, 15 June 1783
JAMES, 10 August 1788##
FANNY, 06 March 1791
+ these possible
HANNAH, 30 March 1800
THOMAS, 27 November 1803

Conclusion;
It looks to me that James IS the child of John and Elizabeth. Christened 1788 and dying in 1854 at age 67. ( so born c 1777)

Hi there Trish1120.
There is some confusion as to when James was born on Carols post it saye's
he was buried in 1854 aged 67yrs take 67yrs off 1854 makes it 1787 when born? , But on your first post, 1851 census saye's he was born in1793. In your
second post James Christened 1788, dying in 1854 (so born 1777 ) bit confused to when James born?.  Just as a query i looked up the 1841 census and it had got James age on the census as age 50 and is wife Elizabeth age 40 which makes is berth yr. about 1791? anyway a bit confusing. anyway i am only a novice at this, learning as i go along thank you for your time and information
much Appreciated .
    Thanks  Trish Kind regards Derek.
