Cadeby-Bourton/Boulton/Boughton
« on: Saturday 27 February 10 14:28 GMT (UK) »
Hi,
Can anyone provide the names of parents and family of Sarah Bourton /Boulton/Boughton/Bolton b.ca 1813 at Cadeby, Leics, and who lived in Coventry for all her adult life, later marrying William Friswell in 1840. She was illiterate hence the variations in the spelling of her surname. Thanks.

Hello,

The marriage certificate should give at least her father's name and occupation. If you don't have it the marriage ref is:

Jun 1840 Coventry 16/351
William Frizwell
Sarah Bourton.

Jen :)

If  the certificate indicates that her father is still alive, we might then be able to find him in the 1841 census - hopefully with a wife.
But even if her father has died by the time of his daughter's marriage, it should be possible to track her down through parish records, once you know his name.

Jen

I've trawled thro' the actual Cadeby baptism records 1805-1825 and found no record of Sarah, but found 2 children born to 2 other single mothers, similar surname; perhaps she was a 3rd. She listed Cadeby as her birthplace in 1861 census Coventry. Records of Holy Trinity, Coventry for her wedding 06.06 1840 name her father as William, but I suspect this may be for social reasons, as she may not have known the name of her father, and I haven't found a suitably aged William at Cadeby for 1805-1820. She may have been born elsewhere and was told she was born at Cadeby.
Thanks again for your comments.
