*Completed*Ann THRUSH and family in 1851
« on: Wednesday 03 March 10 07:33 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for Ann THRUSH (nee MAJOR) and her family in 1851 and perhaps other censuses as well.  She would be born about 1787, and her husband's name was George. From the look of things, she may have been living in Middlesex in 1851.   I think that Ann may have been with her son John, born about 1820 in Swindon Wiltshire, and his wife Emma, born about 1824 in Dorset.  It also looks as if she and some of her sons may have been in Wincanton, Somerset at the time of the 1841 Census.

George and Ann were married at Frome in Somerset in 1814.  They had 9 children between 1815 and 1830, some baptised in Swindon Wiltshire and some in Bruton, Somerset:

Joseph Major THRUSH (b. ca 1815)
James THRUSH (b. ca 1816)
Richard THRUSH (b. ca 1817)
John (b. ca 1819)
William (b. ca 1823)
Thomas THRUSH (b. ca 1824)
Daniel THRUSH (b. ca 1826)
Henry (b. ca 1827)
Robert (b. ca 1830)

Any sign of Ann or other members of her family would be very gratefully received. It looks as if several of her children may have moved to London, at least by 1881 if not earlier.

Thanks for your help.

Many thanks Susan. It looks as if Ann probably died between 1851 and 1861.

Is there any sign of Ann in 1841? I think she could be in Somerset somewhere with one or more of her sons.

Kind regards and thanks

Thanks a lot Susan.

I'm sure you have found Ann in 1841 as well. It looks as if she was widowed between 1830 and 1841. It also looks as if she was born in Wiltshire, which gives me a new angle to research.

Many thanks for doing these lookups for me.

Kind regards

Philip

Susan

Can I ask a further favour please?

The real reason for looking for AnnTHRUSH is because she is a member of the MAJOR family, and her elder brother Richard MAJOR moved to the US in 1830. There was no indication of where he came from in England, and so I have been trying to locate other members of the family in the hope that they would lead me back to their common ancestor.

So far I have found Richard MAJOR (who emigrated to the USA); Ann MAJOR (who married George THRUSH and was still alive as late as 1851) and probably James MAJOR who married in Frome Somerset and had at least four children as follows:

Elizabeth MAJOR (b. ca 1815)
Richard Wer MAJOR (b. ca 1817)
Emma MAJOR (b. ca 1819)
John Harvey MAJOR (b. ca 1824)

Can you spot any members of this family in 1841 or 1851?  I have a feeling that Richard Wer MAJOR married  in Worcester in 1844, and that he died in London in 1871, so it should be possible to spot him in 1841, 1851 (married) and 1861 at least.

Can you help?

Thanks in anticipation

Philip
