Danny
I think your only hope is that when the church records for Cork are put up on www.irishgenealogy.ie they will cover the city and western part of the county which isn't covered by the IFHF site. They are promising to have them up by June, but who knows?

I'm afraid you have your work cut out for you trying to locate Daniel Murphy in Ballincollig. A quick glance through Griffith's shows 3 Daniels in Carrigrohane Townland, 1 in Blackader's Lane, B'collig village, 1 in Coolroe Townland, 1 in Curraheen & 1 in Kilnaglory. All these townlands would have been in B'collig parish at the time.

Thanks for that info. I can now add a couple of relevant snippets which might narrow things down.
Firstly, the Murphy lot I am after has been partly traced to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Abersychan, Monmouthshire. Another cousin researching the Wales branch has "found out" that some of his ancestors were buried at Killcrea Abbey (near Ovens).
Secondly, I have another child of Daniel Murphy (Johanna 1855 marrying a Jeremiah Ford) and she gave birth twice in Corbally1871 &1874, once in Kilnaglory 1876, and then in Ballyshoneen.

Does that help in anyway?
