Hannah Jones-Davies-Swancoat
« on: Saturday 06 March 10 16:37 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me trace a Hannah Jones born 1827 at Corwen Merioneth? She married someone with the surname Davies then after being widowed she married a Thomas Swancoat (cote / cott) in the June quarter of 1872 at Ruthin Denbighshire. They were living at Llangefni Angelsey in 1881 and at Tan y graig Licswm, Fflint in 1891.
I would like to know who her first husband was and where they both lived  and whether she was burried at Holywell.
Any info will be most appreciated. ???
Swancoat family surname from mid wales in 16th century. Thomas Swancoat left Montgomeryshire for Wisconsin in 1850 to return after his wife died in 1866. He remarried Hannah Davies a widow at Llanfwrog church near Ruthin. Her father was Edward Jones. They farmed at Tan y graig, Licswm, Ysgeifiog,Flintshire. The other name for this homestead was Pant yr hwch.

Hi and welcome to Rootschat

Where there children from the first marriage?  If so - a copy of one of their birth certs will give you the name of her first husband and help trace the marriage but I think this 1861 entry for Corwen will help - all b Corwen

Many thanks once again to both Carole and Hiraeth. One thing worries me about Hannah in the 1851 census is her age, as in  1881 and 1891 she was born 1827.
Any suggestions?

Do you mean the 1861 as no1851 details for Hannah have been posted

Her age on the census is only one year different which is nothing on a census 10 years apart
