Help re Hotmail account not functioning

Hello,
for the last few hours, I have been having  trouble with hotmail.
I get this message:
There was a problem with the Windows Live Hotmail service (a temporary network connectivity issue that has nothing to do with your computer). Please try again.
I am notified re new emails but can't open them.
I can't open or delete any exisiting messages and although the page opens for a New message, I am unable to write a message.
I am very impatient but hope that as the message states, it will be resolved.
I am just wondering if anyone is experiencing similar problems or has some knowledge of this.
I have used hotmail for years and have had few difficulties.

Hi,

I have two hotmail addresses and just tried both.  They are working OK.

Hopefully yours is a temporary problem and will sort itself out.

I'm getting so frustrated with it. Just thought that I couldn't sign out but I managed to do so and now don't want to try again.
It's very odd.

No problems with my Hotmail account.

Have you tried signing in from the Web? instead of the normal way?   On the odd occasion I have resorted to that method?

Hi KHP,
yes I tried that 
I have been on some sort of support site (that's where you get directed to with a problem) and it seems so silly- there are several posts with the same problem but I can't see any solutions
I feel as though I am just going round in circles. Let's hope that tomorrow it gets better

Yes, I have had my fair share of the support site and the replies sent to me

I only other thing I can think of, is uninstalling Hotmail and resinstalling ..... maybe that will resolve the glich you have.    I know it is a pain having to do that

I'm going to wait and see what happens. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the message is truthful and that the problem is 'temporary'.
I have just posted my feelings in the 'new user' bit and got the standard information reply pointing me to the Community and Solutions parts of the site.
I had already seen these and had by then added my post to a similar problem.
Then I swore 
I'm off to bed now and will see what delights tomorrow brings.
