Sue
You should be able to find his birth on Scotlands People. This would give you his parents names.
Cheers,
Cammy

Hi sue,

Was looking at some records in Glasgow and saw a birth -

James Goldie Hunter born 26 Aug 1863 in Campsie.

Parents were listed as  John Hunter and a Jane Goldie married Campsie 28 Nov 1862.

I have the West Stirlingshire monumental inscriptions pre 1855  and there are a number of stones (6) for the surname Hunter and (3) for the surname of Goldie. Just let me know if you would like a copy of these?
