John Joseph Markham and Mary Sullivan Markham
« on: Friday 12 March 10 10:42 GMT (UK) »

Can anyone kindly look up the death of John Joseph Markham and his wife Mary sullivan who farmed 13 and half acres at
Toonagh, Clooney above Quin according to the 1825 tithe
appts.  They had 5 sons and one daughter who came to Australia in the l840s.  Left two daughters at home in iRELAND with John and Mary.  One called Ann and one called Mary both
got married.  Dont know what happened to John b. circa l803
and Mary b. circa l808.   The farmed with Mary's brother
Patt Sullivan, were called Marcum on the Tithe appts. and
were Roman Catholic.  Any help with look up appreciated.
Many thanks Carolyn.

Civil registration of deaths in Ireland started in 1864 and you can search the indexes online (free)-

I am looking for their deaths Moderator.  John Joseph Markham was born in circa l803 and Mary Sullivan Markham circa l808.
The would have died in l840s or l850s.  Any clues please.

Your first post did not say you believe them to have died before 1864 (otherwise I wouldn't have posted the civil index link). There are no death certificates before 1864 so unless you find a newspaper obituary, headstone or church burial record you are unlikely to find their deaths recorded.
If you can let me know where Toonagh is I'll move this thread to the correct county board in case someone with local knowledge can provide assistance.

Hi camelot,
If you Google "Toonagh Clooney", there is a lot of Markhams' listed, especially the second page.
There might be some one there to help.

Thanks Crowlie- will move this thread to CLARE board now.

Googling "Toonagh Clooney & Markham" gets more exact references.
Someone else searching for the same family?- http://www.ourlibrary.ca/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=457
