Mary Fraser and D Mackenzie

Mary Fraser, d/o John Fraser and Helen Grant was born about 1823. She reportedly married a D. Mackenzie and had a daughter Mary Helen Mackenzie, who married a George Brodie Clark and had a son Ernest Herbert Brodie Clark. No dates for this were provided in Major Alpin's Ancestors and Descendents 1904, the source of this info. I am unable to verify any of this, or find dates.

The IGI has many Mary Fraser -- D Mackenzie marriages.
The IGI gives two Mary Helen Mackenzies, both d/o Donald Mckenzie and Mary Fraser, one b 1853 in Inverness and the other 1847 in Lochbroom, Ross&Cromarty. Both are possible

There is an Ernest Herbert B Clark born in Middlesex in 1879 and the census record for 1891 is tantalizing; his parents are George Brodie Clark, solicitor, and Mary H B Clark, but she was born in Australia. It`s not impossible that Mary Fraser and D Mackenzie went to live in Australia, but it does seem unlikely that the daughter would have come back.

The marriage parish entry in the parish of Paddington in 1877, for George Brodie Clark and Mary Helen MacKenzie, shows her father as David MacKenzie, a Professor of Mathematics.

From family trees on Ancestry, Mary Helen/Ellen is showing as born in Victoria, Australia c. 1849. They show this possible 1861 census entry for her at a girls' school in Folkestone Kent:

Mary E MacKenzie, 12, pupil b. Victoria Australia

RG9; Piece: 551; Folio: 157; Page: 6

Mary Helen looks to have also been George Clark's third wife.

From what I understand, genealogy records for Victoria are excellent (this post gives  you some idea of resources www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,369963.0.html ).
