2 signatures
« on: Saturday 13 March 10 10:59 GMT (UK) »
Hi

I have 2 signatures from 2 different marriage certificates. I have good reason to believe that both are written by the same person. I would like to hear peoples opinions on the handwriting.

Thanks
Steve

I don't think they are.
The "E" looks different and the ongoing loop from the "o" drops further in the second than it does in the first.

I disagree, I think the 'E' is very similar.  There's not much else for direct comparison, but note the full stops between words - on both they're well above the line, in mid-air if you like.

The only thing you can really compare is the E and I agree with Pauline about the loop dropping.
I am not convinced that there is a full stop on the top signature, it looks like a continuation of the last letter where the ink didn't flow properly.

Hello Rosie99
On the last name in the Rogers, the letters have a larger space than those written in the Medlow last name.  I don't think these are the same person writing.  The way in which a person writes tends to have the same spacing between letters regardless of the word.  I could be wrong though!

Kathb

I'd say they were by different hands, the reason being that one connects the letters as part of a fluid motion while writing , the other makes connections but the pen is taken off the page in doing so (e.g. the connection between the y and the a in Royals)

I think they're probably written by two different people--but how much time is there between the two different signatures?  I know my own handwriting has changed considerably in the past 20 years.

I do not consider that they are written by the same hand. If you look at the 'l' in Medlow, it bears no resemblance to the 'l' in Royals.  I also agree that the 'E' and 'o' are different.
