Hello,
BMSGH is holding their First Steps In Family History at the Birmingham & Midland Institute on Saturday, April 17 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
*ONE DAY COURSE ON RESEARCHING YOUR ANCESTORS.*
A one day course especially designed to help beginners to research their
family is being held on 17 April 2010 at the Birmingham & Midland
Institute, Margaret Street, Birmingham.
This popular one day course organised by the Birmingham & Midland
Society for Genealogy & Heraldry (BMSGH) shows new researchers how to
start their research by examining various records such as birth,
marriage and death registration from 1837; census returns; trade
directories, electoral rolls and Wills after 1858.
Dr. Chris Leigh, Chairman of the Society says: “Although a lot of
research is now undertaken by using the Internet, there is still a place
for showing and explaining what these records contain and if you cannot
find people in, say, the GRO BMD Index or on census returns, what other
options are available to you”.
The course starts at 10am and finishes about 4pm. Non-members of the
Society will be charged £5.00 which is refundable against subscription
should they join the Society on the day. The Society’s bookstall will
also be there.
Booking is advisable and further information can be obtained from Mrs.
Jackie Cotterill, email: gensec<at>bmsgh.org (replace <at> with @)
