Can you put me on the 'Wright' track?
« on: Sunday 14 March 10 22:59 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me please?

I have traced my great, great grandparents Benjamin and Maria Wright and family on the 1851, 1861 and 1871 Censuses for the parish of Elmley Lovett. I have no idea when they were married or what Maria's maiden name was. The 1851 Census (ref. HO1072946 (could be HO1072346, not clear) shows 9 children, but I have found an IGI baptism record of a Harriet Wright, baptised on 22 October 1826, parents Benjamin and Maria Wright, so presumably, she is also one of their children. They may also have had some other children between Harriet and Charles, born 1834. I wonder if anyone can trace the family on the 1841 Census? I cannot seem to find them.

Also, does anyone know anything about Jingle Joys Farm in Elmley Lovett where the family were living at the time of the 1871 Census (ref. RG10/3068)?

Hope you can help!

When asking for a census lookup - can you always give full details of ages for all family members so we can ensure we have the correct family

Hello Phil

It was great to get your message. How about this for some coincidences:

I received a copy of my great grandparents' Marriage Certificate today. Benjamin Wright and Elizabeth Meredith were married at St. George's Parish Church in Kidderminster on 7th December 1868. Their witnesses were Jeremiah and Mary  Maiden. How about that!  :D Are they your ancestors?

Secondly, I live in Weston-super-Mare too!

Lastly, my son's name is Phil!

Hope you have a good holiday. I have some really happy memories of visits as a child to my auntie and uncle's cottage in Stoney Lane in Crossway Green. Any information you can get while you're there would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Millymollymandy  :)

Hi Milly

Its a very small world - Im a direct descendant of Jeremiah Maiden - he was my gt gt grandfather.

as for Stoney Lane, when on holiday I stay about 1/2 a mile from it on the main A449 (about 4 bungalows away from the Little Chef) & I walk a dog past Stoney Lane every day. You must know the Mitre Oak pub - 3 lots of my ancestors have kept it (2 Maidens & 1 Holliday).

I could have gone on a long time but better stop now

ps I dont know if youve heard of Waresley Court but I have been able to track down 3 pictures of it after over 10 years searching - I got them from the current Lord Hampton
