I am searching for the birth details and parents of Johanna Aylward born abt 1857 in Piltown, Kilkenny.
The only other info I have is that she emigrated to New Zealand before 1879 where she married Denid Francis McCormick, also from Ireland

Johanna was born before civil registaration began in 1864 so you will need to search church records. Do you know what religion Johanna was? The only records available for Piltown (which was in the Templeorum parish) are RC. There is a Johanna Aylward born in 1852 in Templeorum, father's name Edward. Also a Johanna born to a father Edward 1861. This might suggest the first Johanna died. These are the only Johanna Aylwards showing up in a 10 year search 1852 - 1862.

it's a pay-per-view site but you can search free. Put in surname, father's name Edward, Templeorum for parish and in firstname for child just put initial, start with A and work up several other children of Edwards show up.

I have some Irish friends with the name Aylward. I think they're from Dublin.

Religion?
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
