finding Edward Feary
« on: Tuesday 16 March 10 10:45 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I have just started doing my family tree and I am trying to get the details of my grand father Edward Feary.  He died in 1954 in Middlesbrough aged about 52.  I think I have found him in the 1911 census in St. Peters Orphanage, Gainford, County Durham.  The 1911 Census record shows him as being 9 yrs old and born in South Shields.  The census also show his brothers I think, Patrick aged 15 and Joseph aged 13.  Joseph is also shown born in South Shields but Patrick is shown born in Tullamore, Ireland.   So far I have not been able find any birth records for Edward or the other brothers Patrick and Joseph.   I have found a birth record for an Edward Feery born 1901 in South Shields which could be the one I am looking for.   I would be really useful if I could search the orphanage records.  Does anyone where the records could be?

Thanks for your help.
Feary

What appears to be their parents are in the South Shields Workhouse in 1911

Edward Feary aged 46: married: Bricklayers labourer:  born Tullamore, Kings County
Mary Feary aged 41: married 16 years: 7 children all living: born Tullamore, Kings County
Bridget Feary aged 3: born South Shields.

NB: Kings County is now Co Offaly.

Good luck,
J.T.A.

Hi Sheeptown. This Feary family is related to me via Edward Feary's wife Mary Grogan. After Edward's death in 1912 she married James Moiser in 1917 and I am related to the Moiser family. Would be good to chat?
