You could put the window writing from this photo onto the first photo, or put the lady in the doorway from first onto this?

Incredible......we believe there was approx. 5years gap between the two pictures being taken, and now they are tied together. Well done.

It's a different woman (older) in pic one and the pavement has been raised (young woman) in pic 2

Maybe I'm missing the point ?

Are you absolutely sure it IS the same woman ?
I'd say the 2nd pic is more recent ~ style of 'pinny', bare arms, hairdo and the fact that the pavement looks to be higher. Easier to raise the pavement than dig it away.

More like 1920s ?

Hello Rachel, you are correct the two women are different. The older woman is my wife's grandmother Catherine Holling and judging by the little girl peeping round the doorway (daughter born 1920) we suggest a date of 1925-1926.Catherine died in 1929 after a mental breakdown caused by running the shop after her husband died in 1920 from being gassed in the war.Despite support from chapel and local councillors she did not get a war widows pension.
The other photo is of my mother-in-law and was probably taken abt.1930  when newly married she took over running the shop.
The reflections in the shop window are of a house and a tree on the opposite side of the street. You will see that the contents in the shop window are different which also indicates they were taken on seperate occasions.
Hope this clarifies the photos. Please feel free to colour away to your hearts content.
