There is a William GEE Private RMLI U 18 Cambridge, Cambridge. that was a patient in the THE ROYAL NAVAL HOSPITAL HASLAR during the night of the 1881 census.
I also found this that mentions an Ether GEE.
Emma Jane had to resort to becoming a laundress and taking in lodgers (including William Gee) to make ends meet. Son Thomas crewed on a yacht, Charles was taken in as an orphan at the Greenwich Hospital School, joined the Navy as a boy writer and retired as a Lt Cdr. Both his sons also joined the Navy as Shipwrights. My son looks like being Generation 6 in the Service! There is a vague story in the family that young Ethel Gee got mixed up in some espionage case in Gosport which, given the strong Service tradition in the family, is not really talked about as embarassing. Do you know any more about this?
