Oakwood Hospital Maidstone Kent
« on: Sunday 21 March 10 19:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to find out how to get hold of patience records. My Nan was in this hospital from 1947 until her death in 1958. I have recently been informed that under the freedom of information act I would now be able to do this. Has anyone out there obtained records from this hospital? If so, how do I go about obtaining my Nan's records. If someone out there has read records from the hospital could you tell me what they include, are there photos etc?

I'm also interested in any information anyone has/knows about the hospital. I have seen the links on here for you-tube which were great as I thought the cemetery where my Nan was buried had been built on.

Thank you

The records covering this time period appear to be at the Centre for Kentish Studies at Maidstone see http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/search.asp (search for Oakwood)

I would suggest contacting them http://www.kent.gov.uk/leisure_and_culture/archives_and_local_history/archive_and_local_history/centre_for_kentish_studies.aspx
