Hi

I am looking into the Brett family of Birstall

Children

William born  1875
John born 1876

Have you looked for him on the 1911 census to check his marital status

Hi

I took advantage of the free access to 1911 census last night, I managed to find the rest of the family but no William Brett born 1875 in Birstall there was one born in 1867 in Birstall which is the wrong year of birth and the occupation was different so I don't think this is the same person.

Any help would be appreciated on how to proceed.

Did you check passenger lists for possible emigration?

hi Carole

No didn't think of that, where do you think a coal miner would travel to?

He could have gone to any of a number of countries - USA/Canada/Australia/NZ etc and not necessarily as a coal miner.
