 You have confirmed it was a Maternity Nursing Home and answered my query :).

Yes, I believe the newer part is now called South Lodge Nursing Home, owned by the Council. I did wonder if there was another Maternity Hospital, you have also answered that for me.

Thank you for all the information, found it all very interesting. Your father in law would have been able to help with my other Ayr queries.

Hi I'm new to this site, but according to the 1901  census my great, great grandmother, my great grandfather and great grandmother and family members lived in South Lodge 29 Racecourse Road, Ayr, I believe orgiially it was a hotel/boarding house which they either owned, ran or worked at. I would love to find out more about the history of the house if anyone can help. thanks
