Parents of Donald Grant born 1886

Hi all, wonder if anyone can help me to find the parents names of a Donald Grant born in Greenock in 1886. I'm not sure if there's any free bdm sites that cover Scotland - would anyone know if there is or if I can find bdm info on Ancestry?? Not having any success at the moment.

oh yes, family search. I never seem to have any joy with that site when it comes to Scottish records and I don't know if I'm not using it properly. Can never seem to find stuff on there. Have you found it good for Scottish records Margaret? Had a bit more success with Ireland.

Family search there is more than one site, Google   FamilySearch.org   it will take you to the one that works for me

the IGI part of familysearch only has the official records up to about 1875 
scotlandspeople website has official records from 1855 but is pay per view
