I would like help with a look up for John Price born 1829 in Disserth

Can you clarify exactly what type of lookup you are asking for

His christening in 1830 is on the IGI which is free to search yourself at www.familysearch.org

Are you sure you have the right marriage date

marriage solemnized in parish of disserth in county of radnor year 1829 between Edward Price and Mary Jones. I am trying to find their children one i know of is John Price born about 1829 but we can not get certificates for this year so i am looking for a print of parish records or something near.

My next task is to find Johns marrage who i think was to Margret? their first child was Jane price then Thomas Price b.1862 in radnor (Disserth) Considering the info i think the marraige willl be in 1859-1860
1. Proof of John Price birth
2. Information of John Price marraige for certificate or print of parish records
3. Thomas Price Birth info for certificate or print of parish records
there are so many Thomas and John Price in same area it is very difficult to be sure you are on right track
but big thanks to anyone willing to help me

Hi

Proof of John Price birth
There were no birth certs for that period - only baptismal entries in parish registers.  See my reply above re: IGI entry

Information of John Price marraige for certificate or print of parish records

Builth was the registration district for Disserth but that assumes that Margaret was also b Radnor Disserth and that they married there

There are a couple of possible marriages on freebmd but without knowing Margaret's maiden name it will be impossible to determine the right one

The GRO are disbanding their reference checking service from 6th April so it will make it very expensive trying to get the right GRO entry for Thomas

John Price father of Thomas was not b Disserth according to the 1871 census - he was b Llanyere  1830 and Margaret was b Llannorthall, Brecknockshire 1834

Eldest child Jane was 11 b Llandwrog Ewm, Brecknockshire which would indicate they possibly married there and not Radnor

The 1871 census shows a son Edward aged 7 b Aberedw which is the Builth reg district.  You are in luck as there is only one birth entry so his birth cert will give you Margaret's maiden name

Births June qtr  1864

thank you so much for your help, i dont know if i am doing it correctly but the family search you advised is only showing me his mother as mary and not her surname perhaps you could explain where im going wrong and how are you finding free bmd before 1837. i was told margrets maiden name was Harris?
I am doing something wrong as i can not find Ann Price??

Hi

The info re: their birthyears and birthplaces came from census entries after their marriage - I will post both entries as a separate reply later

The entry for Ann Price b 1828 was from the IGI at  http://www.rootschat.com/links/0bq/

With surnames such as Price & Jones - it can be very easy to go down the wrong research path without verified info.  There is an 1841 entry for Disserth for Edward & Mary showing son John aged 12  and I think the 1861 entry is the clincher that his parents were Edward & Mary - see next reply

Llanyre & Disserth are only about 2 and a half miles apart so it's a close call

The reason I queried the marriage date was because of the IGI entry showing a child born 12 months before the 1829 marriage

To find John's  marriage to Margaret - you need to buy a copy of Edward's 1864 birth cert to get her maiden name

When you have that info - you can check freebmd for a marriage

If you order the birth cert online before 6th April you will only pay the current charge of £7

Applications received on or after 6th April will pay the increased charge of £9.25 so that will be the charge you will eventually pay for their marriage cert should you decide to buy it

Here are the census entries I mentioned

The marriage year is earlier than you originally thought as eldest child in 1861 is aged 4 so marriage approx 1854-1856 - see below

1871 for Upper Glandwr Aberedw

John Price 41 b Llanyre, Radnorshire - railway repairer
Margaret 37 b Llannorthall Brecknockshire
Jane 11 b Llanddewi Cwm  Brecknockshire
Thomas   9 b Disserth
Edward   7 b Aberedw
William   5    ditto
James 4        ditto
Joseph 1       ditto
RG10 Piece 5574 Folio 60 Page 1

I am a bit dubious about the 1861 entry.  Totally different occupation for John.  No daughter Jane (unless she was Mary Jane) and the 1871

1861 for Trecoed Breconshire but no daughter Jane

John Price 31 b LLanyre Radnorshire ag labourer
Margaret   28 b Lyadinam, Breconshire
John   4 b Landewi Cwm Breconshire - servant in Disserth & Trecoed in 1871
Margaret   2   ditto - servant in Aberedw in 1871
Mary   1          ditto
Margaret  11 sister b Disserth
RG9 Piece 4206 Folio 16 Page 1

1851 for Trecoed Radnorshire - all b Disserth

Edward Price 45 ag labourer
Mary   44
Mary   10
William 7
Elizabeth 5
Margaret 2
HO107 Piece 2488 Folio 142 Page 8

1841 for Disserth

Edward Price 35 labourer
Mary 40
John   12
Jane  9
James   5
Edward   3
Mary 5 Months
HO107 Piece 1453/5 Folio 7 Page 8

Only 3 possible marriages using Builth as that seems to be the registration district they were living in 1861/71

June 1855 Margaret Whiting
December 1855 Margaret Evans
December 1856 Margaret Evans
