1st marriage certificate to Maria shows labourer & 2nd marriage certificate to Fanny shows gardener jobbing.
Think I may have found him on 1841 census - HO107/804/11/ 40/p 15
The maria he married was prev married to william alcock who are both shown on this census previous page. Plus although, his father George is not shown on here - there are a couple of other fathers' families who have occupation mason too.
So not sure why he would go to birmingham etc.... - he was resident in kings sutton at time of marriage to maria too
