« on: Sunday 04 April 10 13:39 BST (UK) »
I have been looking into James Glen, 1791-1876 parents  James Glen and (Agnes Salmond) he was buried a Brechin with wife Elizabeth (Cameron)
James was at Waterloo with brother David 1779.

Jame's son  John 1825, is my line, his son James 1858

Would like to know if there are any connections

Ugo

hi Ugo

welcome to rootschat  :)

my line is david glen(1789-1866) married to ann donaldson
parents james glen and ann salmond(from death cert.)
his son alexander glen born 1827 is my direct line

it seems both served in the royal horse artillery and i've long suspected that
that at least one of the brothers were at waterloo(if not both)

the children i have so far for james glen and elizabeth cameron are -
ann b.1826
james b.1827
robert scott b.1829
jean b.1831
agnes b.1834
elizabeth b.1838
david b.1841

i have no record of a marriage for james/elizabeth

Hi EV

I have not found their marriage either, both died in 1876.

A cousin has followed both Glen, Kew holds all their army details, another cousin has the Waterloo Medal.

Thanks for replying Ugo

did you see the article on david glen(1881 - 1917) in bygone angus ?
son of david glen and mary ann cook
a well know footballer in his time and winner of the military medal
i think that your james glen(1791-1876) was his grandfather

if you google you should find further details

There was a well known Davie Glen from that neck of the woods, hostel warden Glen Doll? stonemason, and man of the hills. Big beard, buddy of Nancy Smith who kept the wee hostel at Fersit, near Tulloch on the Fort William line....Skoosh.

This is really for Ev!

Was alexander glen b 1827 m Agnes Reid?
I saw you were looking into William Reid in another post, but I think it was completed by the time I replied.
My line is Mary Reid, sister of Agnes.
