The Thomas Thomas born c1853 is a nephew, not a son.

If this is the younger Thomas in the 1861 census, his folks were William and Eleanor, both born Carmarthenshire

RG9; Piece: 4209; Folio: 35; Page: 5 - Llywel, Breconshire

Your Thomas c1827 and Elizabeth are here:

assumed you did, sorry.

The first one is the family that IR transcribed: it is the actual family of the younger TT, who is TT snr's nephew in the 1871 census.

the second one is indeed TT snr, with wife Elizabeth - no kids of their own but they are minding a child on a 'weekly basis'

Living at or in 'Caerllewin'

Thos Thomas 36 Head of Household born Llywel, Brecon: occupation is Farmer of 116 acres
Elizabeth Thomas 34 wife born ditto
Gwenllian Price 24 servant ditto: Serv maid
Evan Thomas 14 servant ditto: Farm servant
Margarret Davies 4 Infant born Llandavery, Carmarthenshire: 'Kept for weekly payment'

William Thomas at Blaenwysk , Llywel, 1861 was my2xgt.grandfather.  He is living with his 4th wife.  This Thomas family has a very interesting patronymic twist.  The family is also linked with Rachel Charles.  Wm. has no gravestone extant.  His father Thomas Thomas, Gwernyddog, Llywel, lived(after marriage), for a while in Myddfai(sometimes as Mothvey.

Dear Isabelruss,
William Thomas, Blaenwysk, Llywel 1861, was born at Mothvey (today as Myddfai, Cmn.).  Eleanor Davies, his fourth wife, was born at Llanddeusan(Cmn.) William is my 2gx gdfather , I descend from his third wife.  Wm. died in the mid C1860s and Eleanor remarried a widower. Many of this large family still lives in the area of S.W.Brecs. Thos Thomas family has an interesting patronymic twist, see my article in Cronicl Powys.
