I am getting nowheres fast about Ewdard Rutter
« on: Monday 17 May 04 18:18 BST (UK) »
Hi,
It seems as though I have hit a brick wall when it comes to this Edward Rutter born in Aug. 13, 1865, in Lilcolnshire, England.
I am really searching for a birth certicicate.  The papers I have here don't shed much light on him.

Hi there is an Edward Rutter, Brazier (occcupation), age 22 on the 1881 census born in Cambridgeshire. Could it be a possibility?

Regards

Shirley,
I am sorry, but he wouldn't fit.
For the census report of the county he lived in, and there is no doubt about this, in the States for 1930 he is listed as being 65.

What are the rules for rounding of ages on the 1930 US census?  Or are their none?

Further to the message by Shirley, I have found an Edward Rutter
born in Cambridgeshire 1858, probably the same person. I do
appreciate what you have already written but just in case you want to persue it further at any time you will find it on this site.

Hi all,
First of all, thanks for your help.
As for the question about rounding off on the 1930 U.S., census, if it is done before a person has a birthday, it will be shown he is one year younger.  To get away from the jiggerish,  the census would be +/-one year of age.
Looking at the census for township, I notice my dad is listed as being 19.  Seeing dad was born in May of 1911, the census would have to had been conducted after May.
Again, I appreciate all the help I have been given.
