Death Cert- completed

Hi

I have just received the death cert for a Joseph McClay born October 1881 and died January 1882 aged 3 months Trumman East, Co. Donegal. 

 He died of "BLACK HIVES" can any one tell me what this was.  He was sick for 14 days.

Black Hives apparently another name for Cynanche Trachealis according to this site: www.antiquusmorbus.com/English/Undefined.htm

Cynanche Trachealis is defined as Croup here-
