Hi Xin,

Thanks for the suggestion but I haven't been able to find anything which would suggest what decade it was taken in or which lodge he belonged to.

The photo was found in my great aunt house when she died and non of us know who it is of or when it was taken so any info would be really useful.

Well, my Grandad was in the 'Buffs'  So I just showed the pic to my old 'Pops'  and he loved it... (He is 89)

He took a look and reckons the Chap had been Knighted!!! (whatever that means)  now I cant shut him up about the mail that came to my Grandad addressed differently after he had been Knighted .....  ;D ;)

He said its around 1920  - but I wouldnt go by that... cos his memory is not good.  bless him.

Hi Xin,

Thanks and glad your grandad liked the photo, just wish I knew who it was of! On another thread someone has explained the different levels of membership as:

1. Firstly, the Kangaroo, or initiatory membership
2. Then comes the Certified Primo, C.P., meaning a member who had passed an examination on how to chair and keep a Lodge in proper running order.  This cannot be acquired before one year’s membership.
3. The Knight Order of Merit, K.O.M., can be obtained after at least three years as a C.P.
4. Finally, the Roll of Honour Member, R.O.H., can be obtained after five years as a K.O.M.
