BLACKMORE from Stoke Sub Hamdon
« on: Sunday 18 April 10 16:58 BST (UK) »
Hi

Could anyone please help me, I am tyring to find information on a Joseph Blackmore and his family. On the census it says he was born in Stoke sub Hamdon abt 1819.
On Joseph's marriage certificate it says his father was call James Blackmore and his profession was a coach man. One of the witnesses was called Thomas Blackmore, this could be his brother.

Thankyou

I went on the site and found the baptism for Joseph it was 3 years difference he was born in 1822 and his father was a coachman. There was a burial for a James Blackmore at the same church in Stoke Sub Hamdon.

Thanks again

I happen to have the microfilm from Stoke Sub Hamden at the moment from the LDS library.  It covers the years 1800-1830, 1837.  It also has 1770 and 15??-1670.

I will look up Joseph's birth.  I will also look for a Thomas Blackmore and see if he could be the brother.

What is his mother's name?  I can look for their marriage.  If you don't have it, I can still look for James Blackmore, coachman.

Let me know if there is anything else checked.  If you PM me your email I will be able to send you digital copies of the scans for your records.

I, too, am researching the Blackmore family of Stoke sub Hamdon, Somerset.  My gggrandmother, Rebecca Blackmore married my gggrandfather, Joseph Taylor on Nov. 14, 1822 at St. Mary the Virgin, Stoke sub Hamdon....the same day that Joseph Blackmore, son of James and Mary Blackmore was baptized.
